New DNI will need to go through the confirmation hearing.
The dems will try to discredit the candidate, delay the process as much as possible to destabilise the function of DNI.
How Trump can play this?
Set up a temporary DNI (Acting)
Allow him to declassify a lot, more, more and more … until dems realise that it’s in their own interest to finally confirm the new candidate.
In the meantime: dems can only blame the “Acting” guy (who is not the main candidate) … and themselves, if they delay the confirmation process for too long.
