conservatives, on the other hand, seem to be very comfortable with sincerely listening and entertaining your opinions, beliefs, talking points, etc AND THEN dismissing them for logical, reasonable, reasons

I think she makes a good point. The world pushes people to make decisions based on threats, which definitely encourages the “fight or flight” side of the brain to take over in decision making. There are several people I know who are now convinced wearing a mask “stops the spread”, when 10 years ago those same people would have laughed and called you crazy for thinking a thin piece of fabric loosely placed over your nose and mouth would be even remotely effective.
