Journey's Jonathan Cain Slams Bruce Springsteen as an 'Annoying, Bitter Old Man' Who Should 'Shut Up' About Politics
Jonathan Cain, a keyboardist and guitarist for the rock band Journey, slammed left-wing rocker Bruce Springsteen as an "annoying, bitter old man" who should "shut up" about politics. "You were 'Born in the USA,' weren't you?" Cain said of Springsteen, addi...
Cain — who recently released the song “The Winds of Freedom: A Salute to America” for the 250th anniversary of America’s independence — went on to say, “I try to keep politics out of my music,” explaining, “I’m releasing this patriotic song because I’m a diehard patriot.”
“I think we should do what we do, and try to unify,” he added. “I think our job is unifying people — and I feel the same way with with Journey. We have our respective parties [Republicans and Democrats] out there in the audience, and they’re singing ‘Don’t Stop Believin’.'”
“Now, people say, ‘Well, you’re Christian and you’re conservative,’ and I’m, like, ‘So what?’ I don’t preach it on stage. I don’t spend ten minutes talking about it,” Cain said.
I bet you a million bucks Bruce has some skeletons in his closet.
So tired of petulent ass democrats trying to smear people for being Christians while they dont say shit about the most misogynistic anti woman, most strict nasty religion, Islam, and give it a pass. I think democrats have some real fucked in the head losers on their side and they are going to force us until civil war if this cancer continues to spread.
I think the left will be fighting their own civil war, we will not be drawn into attacking (which they want) but we will defend ourselves (which they fear.) God wins this time.
Nice guy. Authentic talent. Not one of the original bandmembers. Relatively clean unlike Bruce SpringTEEN.
He's basically an original member to the "famous" Journey. I mean didn't he write half the hits or more?
How old are you? There is prolly a version of journey for every age group. And if you are really old you would know some of my version came outta santana iirc lol
Greg Rollie. Also Neal Schon? I loved that version (with Steve Perry).
Yep but honestly i had to dbl check that it was not ross lol they were and are still great. Cassettes still work lol
When i first met them in west germany it was ross gregg neil and aynsley. This was prolly tail end 76 or very early 77. Came home to texas and they were touring here so hung out at a few shows for a few years. Did a lotta media on em. Took a lotta grief from em cause i was a minor lol but good guys. Aynsley had drug issues and was on the same bill in foat wuth as steve smith one show. Journey was headlining a 3band show and steve was the drummer for the opening band iirc and beat the crap outta his kit kicked it over and ran off the stage strait out thru the audience. Place went nuts. Aynsley cn overcome that and for all intents and purposes steve got hired that night. So the lineup i hung out with the most was steve perry, neil ross gregg and steve smith. Nice guys all of them. Their road manager too. I did not know cain with journey per se but did cover him a few times as a solo and with other acts. Sittin in was a big thing back then with up and comers. Man that was 50 years ago. I am officially old. Smh
Yes, I never bought concert tickets to hear the band's political viewpoint. I went to listen to music. Only listen to music. IDGAF what their political views are, tbh.
There's a reason I like Journey. The music and this. Takes me back to my high school years when I hear one of their songs on the stereo.
I saw them in concert in the early 80's. I loved the "Day of Rock" we used to have every year. 5 or 6 bands back to back. It was great!
Tickets 5 dollars general admission?
I think they were $20 - i have the stubs somewhere in a scrapbook lol
Haha cool. Beats tha crap outta 100 for da bruce.
Exactly
I had just gotten my first apt. Did not have a fone yet. So all these rockstars called grandmas house just down the street and left msgs for me. She had a copy of my calendar and even got mail for years from them lol she got all the good gossip haha so yeah i can teleport listenin to them sometimes.
If Journey wasn’t already inducted in the RRHoF, he most likely would not have spoken up. Bruce is a major gatekeeper in that shindig. I’m glad Jonathan is able to speak freely.
I think we are gonna see more of this. Pedowood dug its own grave.
Jonathan Cain is the keyboardist, formerly of The Baby’s.
Bruce got penetrated for that fame and fortune he has been given.
