Artificially created babies (IVF with outside the family donors, surrogacy e.g. womb for hire, etc.) will want to know who their biological parents were, as adopted children sometimes spend decades of time and HOPE to find theirs!
It is a very natural and understandable instinct, no matter how loving the adoptive parents.
The desire for children is also universal I guess, but it is a gift. One should NOT call into being children by unnatural sources. Opening Pandora's box, etc. Yes children are a gift, and we should not call into being for our own desires, children who will live wondering who their bio parents are, and the loneliness and heart-sickness of never being a part of a biological family!
Sometimes it cannot be prevented, as orphans or foundlings being adopted into loving homes. Just saying -- it should not be created by the desires for a baby they aren't able to have by natural means.
I've come to the conclusion that surrogacy on behalf of childless couples - whether those couples are gay or straight - is not compassion.
It's human trafficking, it's baby-selling, pure and simple, even if the DNA used is entirely from the heterosexual married couple and the surrogate is merely a carrier. Human beings are not to be used for such purposes.
Everyone has the right to find a willing partner and then try to create a child together.
But no one gets a guarantee that those two things will happen.
You cannot resort to buying a baby or renting a womb because you think you have a "right" to a child.
You don't.
You have the right to try.
You don't have the right to get a child by any means necessary. No one does. Because terrible things happen when someone decides they do.
If anyone wanted to have a good argument against legitimate couples using IVF for their own children - that t helps to enable this mess is probably the best one I’ve heard.

and if you think about it - what really happens to "unused" frozen embryos created for this process?
They are supposedly destroyed when not needed, but does anyone know that for sure?
Anyone could ship them anywhere in the world for implantation, and how would anyone ever know the truth?
Yeah… who knows?
