My insurance company here in Toronto had been offering for a number of years the opportunity to chip and track your car - if you drive according to some prescribed algorithm (less and where) you could qualify for a rebate on your insurance. In hindsight seems like preconditioning. Anyways, I don’t think there were many takers.

Strange story - just found out my husband of 31 years is cheating on me. So - why do I feel this just dovetails with the great awakening. The end of our “corrupt “ marriage is long overdue. The rot and lies can no longer be hidden.

I am leaning that way as well. If FB needed abrupt algorithm changes done, I can’t believe it cannot be done without expensive, uncomfortable downtime. Every system has backdoors that are continually changed via patches - my guess is a hack via a backdoor by “good guys”

Interesting. So post is saying fake reason given - still we don’t know what the real reason is - who is responsible for downtime and why was there downtime.

Yes - change control - but there several possibilities why it is not fool proof. The first one I can think of is that it was an emergency in which case there are protocols in place to bypass the usual testing and review process and implement with emergency authorization. The 2 things I find most curious is the time of day this change was done (not off hours) and the amount of time for rolling back the changes. Now, it there was some “emergency “ such as deterring hacking - perhaps rollback was not an option. Also scheduling was not an option.

I completely agree. How do you foresee the Iranian regime failing - what will be the catalyst/ attack?

Back in 2008, I read “Confessions of an economic hitman” changed my perspective on the CIA - literally changed my life as crazy as that sounds.

Yes strange, especially reporting on the torture that took place there.

So, would the root cause have been a configuration text file that was corrupted? What would be your guess?

Is it possible that something went wrong with trying to use out of band - would that not be emergency use so very rarely used - could be something stupid as login credentials unknown. Well what we know for sure - given the millions of dollars lost - the pressure to fix must have been intense - And then you usually have a battalion of managers breathing down some poor guy’s neck and asking for an update every five minutes! Hehehe

Does seem unprofessional for such a large organization. Just as curious was the amount of time to fix it. But sometimes (more often than not) the person who caused the screw up is the one in charge of undoing it.

Thanks for the explanation. Seems like an impossible event. It makes the most sense the issue was with FB routers - some huge screw up - could be a rookie left in charge Of some fix / upgrade while someone more senior on vacation. Lots of change control protocols in place but still things can happen - pushed to all routers? My observation in IT these days is although there are a lot of employees… Everyone is very siloed and each person handles a very specific area with not a lot of cross training / responsibilities.

I don’t know - if you cannot get bread without standing in line, you have gone over the precipice IMO. I don’t think the plan involves mass death from starvation. Think of the civil unrest. I think the purpose is to see the abyss, but not be in the abyss. It needs to halt before going over but we need to climb to the top for a good view.

No - I was telling you what i do - I troll or trigger for fun by saying out loud that I am not vaccinated just to see the stunned looks and open mouths. It can make the brainwashed very uncomfortable as if I just told them I have Ebola.

Yes - seems like people are getting angrier- sorta like the “my patience is wearing thin” remark. Although sometimes telling someone I am not vaccinated is like a troll...
