Well I am slowly going through from the beginning and reading but its slow going with only a few hours to read every work day...
Perhaps a very advanced AI has been combined with a quantum computer and given enough input information it is able to assign probabilities to all future outcomes. Essentially predicting the future (not really in the supernatural sense) but taking advantage of "deterministic" interpretation of the universe, it is able to appear to predict the future when in reality it is just calculating it...and this information is being used to help make decisions or analyze enormous amounts of information to tease out connections to things and predict what is going to happen.
Kinda scifi sounding but idk just spit-balling...
