What is the evidence that NIV is corrupt? This in-fighting is part of what awoke me to the folly of blind following. Translators of the NIV understood that they were reading something in the king's english and was "king approved". No chance of corruption there. They took a team of people to work against the earliest texts and eliminate the middle man. If I had to choose a side, I'd argue that the NIV is actually a more reliable translation than the king sanctioned one. Many hard-liners are offended at the lack of "thee's and thou's" dialect which wouldd never have been used by Jesus anyway.
I too have read the Apocrypha, which was a part of the texts until around early 1600's. Stories with dragons weren't quite as taboo in an era that didnt have the word dinosaur and the current consensus timelines that accompany it. Not saying i agree with those either. Grew up doing "memory verses" and "bible school". Church every Sunday. Parents had issues with the church. Tried many other "denominations". Started to see the flaws in the system. Thought I found "the right one" in the non-denominational restoration movement. Studied both KJV and NIV versions in serious depth over the course of 10 years. Saw the same issues and flaws among the church. People growing stagnant. No true passion and wanting to thrust me out front because I did. Stepped outside the box. Started looking at what other civilizations believed/ had believed. Found the similarities. Saw the redundant programmed fear and control. Found purpose and passion again. I am unafraid. I will not get back in the box.

As one who has studied it extensively, while trying for a better part of 30 years to find meaning in life, there are most definitely many versions and interpretations of this message and to say it is the only message is to fully shut out ackowledgement of our fellow man and the many different beleifs that have sprouted up in this realm over the centuroes. We need to be better than that. When you do start studying those different beleifs from the outside, understanding they can entrap you like all others, you start to find themes... coincidences. You start to find questions that will give a person his purpose or send him crying back into his safe space for the comfort of the familiar. You will not expand or advance from a place of comfort and familiarity. We're here for the journey. Don't grow idle.

Let us not forget the amount of various taxes implemented to fund military divisions and wars throughout US history. One non-war tax in particular, that's standing out to me these days, is the gas tax I pay that helps upkeep the highways. The roads are shit in my part of southern Indiana.
