Looking glass did predict it. Knew it was coming. That’s why he put the economy on steroids, why he made it very clear he didn’t enter into any wars, why he made his rally turnouts so publicized. Every one was done to show us specifically to what extent the problems are… and frankly, they were executed beautifully.

Do you have other investment options? Interested in real estate like rentals? In my area your $33k would buy a duplex rental valued at $160k. If you pick right it should afford you $750 a month in income after expenses and debt service or about $9k per year. So that is $180k over the same 20 years (plus an additional $160k minimum from debt pay down). My calculations do not include rent increases or inflation, both of which will be in your favor. To answer your question; yes, get rid of the retirement plan immediately. They are a function of wall street for the sheep.

I also have a degree in neuroscience. Graduated from PSU in 2011, retired now. College is a great learning experience but surely not critical for success. I see your intelligence and know you will realize this shortly after achieving your degree as well. Not sure what area you are from but if in the PA/MD region please reach out to me. I’ll let you stay in one of my rental properties for cost while attending college to assist you.
