Sometimes you'll get mass upvotes for hating on the gays. Sometimes you'lll get mass downvotes for hating on the gays.
Sometimes you're not really saying anything about the gays, but you're commenting on someone else's opinion on the gays - same bipolar result.
It's because their isn't a clear answer on how to handle this issue.
Discussion is way too heated and filled with people ready to accuse anyone of being an anti-patriot, a degenerate, or religious nutjob or something else horrible whenever a strong felt opinion is said.
The hive mind is alive even here unfortunately.
Some threads are pro gay. Some are anti gay.
Make a comment that goes against the popular opinion particular to that thread and you'll get lambasted to shit.
Often there's no reason why one thread or another caught on. Just chance.
