We have such a large buffer between elections and seating new members of congress to give the loser an opportunity to contest the results and get the recount through the courts. That shit is baked in to America. It doesn't mean anyone has been counting votes since November. A recount can take ages to be approved. In this case the republican nominee requested a recount that flipped the election in her favor. Yeah, the long buffer period is a chance for cheaters to fuck it up, but that doesn't mean the underlying principle is wrong. We need more transparency and accountability, not less democracy.

George H W Bush conceded election night

Gore conceded Dec 13th when the supreme court ruled on the outcome of the election

Kerry conceded on election night

McCain conceded the morning after the election

Romney conceded 3 days after the election

Clinton conceded 6 days after the election

it's often obvious on election night who will win, but there's a 2 month gap between election and inauguration baked in for a reason

Gawker was sued for posting hogan's sex tape, not gamergate. I read the article you posted, so I'm on board with the timeline. Looking into the cause of those layoffs, I'm seeing management change problems with the sale to G/O media. The entire deadspin staff resigned in protest a little over 6 months after the article you posted was written. It wasn't a gamergate thing.

which gaming media outlets are nearly bankrupt because of gamergate?
