What I am about to relate is news I received from my wife (currently in Zambia), early this morning, which would have been evening in that region of Africa.
This pertains to the "Xenophobic Campaign" (to give it a name) conducted on 30 June against various and sundry foreign black residents and workers, wherein the Campaign participants (mostly native Zulus) marched en masse through city business and residential districts to collar and displace any whom they deemed "foreign", dragging them from their homes and businesses, to be conveyed to the nearest border crossing and expelled from the country. This was mainly directed against workers originating from other African countries, especially neighboring ones.
Although the present U.S. attention is directed toward the situation of the SA white population, they were substantially unharmed by this campaign, having robustly armed up and determined to resist. In several cases where the mob congealed around a white dwelling, a few warning rifle shots were sufficient to cool their ardor and make them move along. As she put it, the whites had thrown all respect for the gun control laws aside, in favor of stern and armed resistance. Seemingly, the government had larger problems with the X Campaign.
The X Campaign had apparently been led by some woman, who was sufficiently funded for the whole affair to afford transportation in armored Land Rovers and to be dressed elegantly. My wife is convinced that this whole Campaign is calculated to destabilize the government of SA. By whom, we had no clear idea. She surmised criminal cartels, for a wider hand. i speculated China, desirous of African footholds.
But nothing happens in a vacuum, and the redoubtable President Cyril Ramaphosa (a complete bag of cowardly shit) recently discovered he was unable to attend a meeting of African heads of state in Ghana. He had been declared persona non grata, as the home nations of the expelled foreigners took extreme umbrage at their treatment. As a result, these nations were embarking on reciprocal expulsions of South Africans, and the termination of business arrangements with South Africa. Likewise, air flights to South Africa declined to nothing, being rerouted to neighboring nations. Oliver Tembo airport now resembles a ghost town. No incoming or outgoing flights. (My wife must travel to SA in a week for eye surgery. She is anticipating being The Passenger coming through the main airport. We found that droll.) And, of course, in an application of the Mugabe Effect, there is no economic productivity from the small businesses that the mob had deranged and dispossessed. Various shortages are now appearing (or disappearing as the case may be).
Supposedly in reaction to this reaction, Ramaphosa called out this woman leader of the Campaign as a culprit. However, underground video circulated showing her in attendance at a high level party, quite cheerful and enjoying herself. Ramaphosa is putting on a face, but he still reeks of political B.O.
Possibly in light of this reaction, the Campaign organizers have announced they would focus their effort in and around Durban, a major port city in the province of Kwazulu-Natal, the former homeland and present stronghold of the Zulu tribe.
There are also sporadic reports of internecine conflict within the Campaign.
So, it remains to be seen where this will go. The whites are entrenched and solidly armed, with the tacit acceptance (if not approval) of the totally undermanned and ineffectual government forces. (They claimed to have made arrests of hundreds of Campaigners, but there were thousands on the march.) The government is now faced with international and internal repercussions of these violations, to the immediate detriment of the economy. This may possibly induce them to put a lid on the whole affair---but once the genie is out of the bottle, on a rampage, it is very tough to put it back in again (particularly when the Economic Freedom Fighter party [communists] led by Julius Malema are all in favor of such dispossession). The thought is that Jacob Zuma, Ramaphosa's predecessor and eminence grise, is also behind what is going on.
Again, this is what my wife has heard as best as I can recall. Apologies for any inadvertent errors or misunderstandings. Fog of war.
My wife and I maintain a rental house in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. It is in the Ibex Hill district, which includes the U.S. Embassy. It is literally within walking distance of our house. Because we need to upgrade our domicile of operations, my wife investigated an offering of a house that happened to be adjacent to the Embassy property (a former lodging of Sam Nujoma, future president of Namibia, on the lam during revolutionary times). It was a fair-sized house, built to original colonial standards...being surplussed by USAID.
There were some interesting outbuildings, very sturdy. Upon entry, they were built stout as bank vaults, with "burglar bars" across the underside of the ceiling to prevent entry through the roof. It was empty, but from the impressions left in the dust, it was apparent that rifles and revolvers had been stored there, in quite large quantities. My wife asked about this and was told not to ask questions. In other similar outbuildings were shadow evidence of more weapons stores and even one filled with remaining crates of ammunition. While they were there, a truck came up to haul away the crates.
She was told that upon the termination of the USAID budget, all the USAID property was being remaindered. There was an additional small house on the property that my wife estimated could hold maybe up to 9 men. Question? Don't ask questions. Though a gate in a barrier wall against an adjacent property, they could see a group of 4x4 SUVs, also USAID materiel---to be given away for free. One of my wife's companions asked for one and his request was granted. Why not sell them? "We can't account for them," was the cryptic answer.
By this point, my wife had made herself persona non grata with the "sales agent" by the persistence of her questions. She asked the agent "Who owned the house?" and was told a name. Fortuitously, it happened to be a gentleman my wife new from her young years in her home district. She later called him up and discovered the connection to Nujoma. As my wife and I talked about this, the picture became very clear to me that all the humanitarian aid distributed by USAID (genuine enough, so far as it went) was a cover for an operation to fund, supply, recruit, and garrison revolutionary forces in the capital of an African nation. (Exclamation point!) Since it was never supposed to exist, they were liquidating it expediently without any paper trail of purchase. Notwithstanding its direct proximity to the Embassy, it is entirely conceivable that the State Department knew nothing of such USAID activities, since it operated independently. The casual corruption in Zambia encourages people to look the other way.
My wife has a nose for news.
I have a relative who had been unwillingly infected with HIV and now has to control it with expensive drugs. Would any anon be aware of references or literature supporting its use to cure an HIV infection? Thanks in advance for reading this post.
I just heard from the wife that the government of Zambia is on the U.S. "Red List," for being unable to account for all the money from USAID spent in Zambia. It is unclear how much was funneled through NGOs and how much through the government. But the government of President Hakainde Hichelema ("HH" to those who don't want to know him) has not been known for tight money management. Universities, police forces, hospitals, judicial offices are all under- or unfunded. Sadly, the USAID embargo also means that support funds for pharmaceuticals is missing, which is a problem for those dependent on drugs that cannot be sourced domestically. (Such as HIV-suppressing drugs. HIV is rife through problems with rape of children.)
The U.S. is also righteously irritated at HH's recent signing into law a measure that inserts a cyber-snoop into all public telephone and internet communications. It is an open question whether this, plus AI, will enable HH to throw people into jail if they utter a disparaging or critical word about him. He is getting fearful of losing power in the next election (2026) and this may be a reflection of that fear. He only lacks genocide to imitate Robert Mugabe.
As I watched Pete Hegseth on TV in his new role as Secretary of Defense, I had a strange feeling of familiarity: the trim appearance, the crisp suit, the slicked back hair. Then it came to me, and I looked up the info on Robert McNamara, SecDef from the Kennedy administration. Same look. Hegseth is 44, McNamara was 45. I'm not pretending they are in any other way similar, but I approve of the 60s vibe.

---I have no idea whether this is truth or fiction or somewhere in-between, and I am not expert at cruising Telegram, so I offer it as a head-scratcher for anons to sort out.
Edit: "today" was 20 Dec 2024
Lately, in thinking of the broad landscape of the Democratic Party (wreckage, corruption, and misasma) and ludicrous proposals for AOC to be a Presidential candidate, the thought occurred to me that there is one Democrat who---whether he knows it or not---is poised to lead the Party out of its morass: John Fetterman. It's not clear that he has been co-opted by any vested interests, and his remarks have been increasingly reasonable and common sense. The Democrat Party could do (already has done) much worse than emulate John Fetterman. I don't think he has disgraced himself with terminal wokeism. It was the strangest thought I've had all year, the more so because it seemed to make sense as I thought on it.
Just do a mental "taste test." Pick any Democrat House member and compare him/her to Fetterman, and ask yourself, "Which one would I allow to remain?" Schiff? Swalwell? Nadler? Pelosi? Do you see what I mean?
On the Intel_Slava Z Telegram channel, as of about midnight (early this 25th), there is a post referencing an interview of Mel Gibson by Tucker Carlson, in which Gibson was alleged to have said he had a video which recorded group atrocities committed by Clinton, Obama, Biden, and others. The URL for the video was given as (my best transcription):
http:s//t.me/+7qPKdUOnuqk3NmE0 (the final character is a zero)
The hitch is that this takes you to a "Mr. Q" Telegram channel, of which one must be a member to be admitted. I wasn't and didn't. (Nor do I go for strolls in minefields.) Would there be any anon already a member of this channel who could investigate whether this is real or a hoax? Or an anon willing to become a member and do the same?
Obviously, if any part of this is true, it would be sensational, at a minimum. We are therefore under a strict circumspection to confirm its reality and veracity. Happy sails!
In order to follow developments in the Ukraine war (seemingly yesterday's news already), I track Intel_Slava on Telegram. Within a day after the assassination attempt on Trump, the Russians are now dropping bombs marked as "For Trump." (Za Trampa.) It makes me wonder what their SVR (Foreign Intelligence Service) knows about all this.
The Russian news reports on this channel are disdainful of Biden and respectful and even concerned about Trump.
The scene in Ukraine seems to be that Russia is conducting a vigorous but measured and thorough mopping up, clearing Ukrainian forces from novoRussian territory. Immense bounties are being offered for any Russian pilot who downs an American F-15 or F-16 in theater.
in the conclusion of "The Life of George Washington" by John Marshall (p. 366): "Notwithstanding the extraordinary popularity of the first President of the United States, scarcely has any important act of his administration escaped the most bitter invective."
Uncanny similarity. Washington's critics hated the British Empire so vehemently, they had become adulators of the new (and bloody) French Republic, despising Washington for the course of neutrality that he steered, casting aside all gratitude for his service and scruples for speaking truthfully.
I accidentally killed my laptop with a water spill, and now that I am on a new machine, I find I have lost / misplaced my old password. So, a new account with a new handle.
