I work in Western Washington but my bug out location is in Eastern Washington, I work until Tuesday.
Like would the blackout be so bad I can't drive my car? I have my BOB and other essentials on me at all times. My current plan is that if the blackout happens I am hitting the road immediately.
Expect the worst, hope for the best
That is how I prepare!!
"Blackout" may be too strong a word. IMHO it will be mostly an internet and communications blackout but with emergency communications systems up and running. I don't expect any widespread electrical problems...unless Antifa idiots decide to attack the grid. My BOB is really a BIB... shelter in place and defend it to the death.
Certain areas will go down with power.
It could be white hats or black hats but it will geographically isolated.
This is a true threat because spec ops will need power out in certain areas as well as black hats taking power out to stop the spread of real information.
I really doubt the whole grid will be going down, but who really knows.
I have two generators and two freezers full of food as well.
My personal opinion based on absolutely nothing other than my Wild Ass Guess:
Major cities like London, SF, LA, NYC, etc; they may see actual power / electrical disruptions.
Why the fuck else are they bringing semi-truck-sized electrical generators into DC?
I do not think the power outages will be widespread.
I think it will be more of a COMMS blackout than anything; internet, email, maybe TV & radio.
But.....again; it’s much better to have and not need, than the opposite of that. So whatever last min prep you have in mind, do it.
The generators are in DC for the Jan. 19th celebration of National Popcorn Day! :)
What do you think about air traffic if all this happens?
what do you mean? Will we be allowed to fly, or what wil .MIL air traffic look like, or what?
I think that wealthy & connected people will be able to carry on & do what they want. MIL will still be flying like crazy, if nothing else to warn & fend off any foreign bad actors tempted to take advantage of the situation.
Civilian air travel will probably stop almost completely.
Again; my total guess, based on absolutely nothing but my opinions.
I was wondering mostly of civilian, I assume mil. would do whatever they do. I guess I was more thinking of the ATC’s.
If there's a big formal announcement of Insurrection Act, Martial Law, or anything similar; widespread power outages, etc; I doubt civilian travel will be terribly busy. Whether it's because the airlines shut down / ground themselves, or because the gov grounds them, I have no idea.
Basically; if you are thinking of flying anywhere in the next month, I'd cancel those plans. LOL
Thanks, fren

Since it is winter....I bet it would be isolated.
Western WA is a liberal mess, so just turning off cellphones would make people go apeshit and riot. So plan alternate routes that avoid high population areas.
I’m guessing that electric distribution is rather sticky. A nationwide outage would be a concerted effort across all 50 states. (I live in PA - generally speaking, there are no high tension lines crossing the Delaware.).
Search for EMP Shield. Contracts with the military. Not sure if I can post. I make no money from them but do own some.
Prepare for anything. I plan to continue going in to work everyday, but I could walk home if shtf.
Map out a route that’s not freeways just in case.
Depending where at E/W Wa makes a hell of a difference as well as the time of day. I've spent some time in the Seattle area and traffic alone is a nightmare on a REGULAR day. Throw in a regional blackout and you probably can kiss that plan goodby unless you already have a back-road route planned which you know won't be congested.
That doesn't even take into account the possibility of military checkpoints if it's that serious (doubtful). All depends on how quickly they get their "package"
Well.. yesterday evening the the power was knocked out here outside of Los Angeles for a solid 30 minutes, coinciding with the other outages WW. Gave us a bit of a startle into prep mode but came back on - we're ready if it goes out again.
Power went out today in Austin TX. It's snowing, but not storming. So shouldn't lose power. (And no, I don't live in that blue mess! I'm a ways out but heard from a friend.)
Keep gassed up at all times, keep some in a can to top off before you leave. Get a real map, figure your back routes. Honestly, Snowqualmie will be a bottle neck if there are tons of people leaving. Check all pass statuses as often as you can, pick the one that is clear but less used, even if it might take longer. Reasonably, you will be ahead of the pack simply because you are looking for the exit way before anyone else will be. You should be ok.
No. Maybe some pockets might but Q said the system has been hardened... protected by...oh dang I forgot the name.
