I was stationed at Ft.Drum for 4 years with 1st Brigade Combat Team and I can tell you that this isn't very common to fly from Drum to Texas to do training. All, if not most training can be done on your stationed post or at the 2 places I talked about in another post.
I won't give base names cause of opsec. All I'm saying is I only trained at 1 of 2 places at a time depending on the current mission set.
This is not 'Normal' to me. Also, your husband is in the National Guard . Active duty personnel have a lot more training than the 'weekend warriors'.
A lot of these military wives think they know what they're talking about cause 'herp derp, my husband has x amount of years doing this or that,' but half the time they have no clue what's really going on. Don't take my word for it or anything, I didn't just live the life for 4 years and see it first hand.
I am aware that you didn't state ANYTHING about that, I was just speaking in general that these 'ACTIVE DUTY' military personal driving around civilian roads w/mounted weapons systems is NOT COMMON.

I never ment to imply the situation was normal. It certainly isnt.
NG can be activated civilan side and they train all over. Sometimes going out of state.
They run armed convoys when activated. Like during hurricanes for example.
However, as another pede pointed out, 50cal mount w/ an armed convoy in Texas is a bit odd.
Tho I'd say probably activate to post guard near POTUS.
Im just telling people no need to panic and spam speculation.
I can't verify if Duram to Texas is out of the norm for NG, where did you hear that?
I'm sorry, is there a typo in there somewhere? I don't understand the question.
Ah. Was typo. I meant.
Was there civilan news of NG flying in from Ft. Drum into Texas?
I hadn't heard.
I could be reading your post wrong.
My apologies, the flight from Drum to Tx was just something I was trying to explain in another post.
Here is the flight path https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=a5a98d
