Yesterday I updated my apple phone to the newest version to see if the rumors were true. Also the alert was sent at 0950 on a Wednesday in the middle of the month. I'm wondering if that is a normal occurrence.

I am in Ohio. All iPhones at my house right now but my husband is at work and has an Android. Let me see if he received one.

Just curious that you were in Ohio and I had a friend in Ohio that used a very similar user name on other platforms. I guess it could be pretty common. That is where I will stop because it was just familiar. Definitely do not one to dox myself or you!

I know tests on the radio and tv are a common occurence but I've never really heard if a test on phones.

If apple people did not turn off automatic updates. They may not get the warnings. Android peeps need to do rhat also. Apple uploaded a block, supposedly.
Utahn here, we got an amber alert last week while I was at work. It was kind of funny, everyone was at their desk and then all of a sudden BBLAAAAHHH!! BLAAAHHH!!

By updating to the newest software version means you actually pushed their suppression of the EBS notification to your phone. This is why they advised to turn updates off last week, to prevent this from happening. I don't own an Apple, so not sure if you can roll it back. On Android, you can turn it back on if they try to disable it.
A test is a test, so it doesn't matter when they choose to (or need to) do it.
They didn't announce the update. It was more of a malicious push in the background. That's why they said to disable the updates last week. They are assholes about that shit. They update your phone regularly without you knowing or bury shit in their regular updates under the guise of "fixing a bug" or "adding features", so does Android. I knew they did this stuff in the background before, but the more I look into it, the more I realize we need to ditch Apple and Android OS

Shit. Intentionally didn’t update my phone. Just saw this morning it happened automatically.
I didn't update on ios and I haven't gotten anything. I'm in the south and one of the devices in our house chirped the emergency tone Sunday evening. We weren't sure which one, but none of them showed an alert. As a side note, I have a CB radio on the emergency channel currently, and it definitely chirped (not the emergency sound) about an hour ago.
