My wife had her identity stolen and someone got almost 10 grand in unemployment benefits in her name. Now we are receiving garnishment letters. She is a State of Michigan employed public school teacher, full time...never applied for unemployment.
That's how fucking incompetent this state is.
When I call the 800 number for the Unemployment agency, it gives a long message about going online and signing up for an account to do your business, then hangs up on you. You can't even be put in a queue to talk to someone. Our online account is locked, so basically we can do nothing.
This has been going on since March.
As to garnishment and fraud, tell your wife to go to her HR department. As for another number for help with tricky problems 5172419700 its the IT help desk and a human will answer the phone and do what they can. Michigan ain't all bad!
We have already been through the Fraud and ID theft paperwork. Yet I still keep receiving threatening letters from the state.

That's 10 grand for ONE teacher, a freaking state employee, one phone call to the district would have cleared this all up. There were 7 others in our small district. How many 100's of millions of dollars of taxpayer money does it take to piss people off?

Not trying to be argumentative... I appreciate the help, I'm on hold right now at the number you listed. Seems like it is a IT support for Michigan employees (MSP, DNR, etc.) that have State of Michigan computers. I'll find out if someone answers.

I wouldn't and didn't say that. I've talked to quite a few real good employees at the UIA once you get through. I also deal with them as an employer. This past year however has been a train wreck...there is no reason they don't have enough employees at the Unemployment Agency to answer the phone. I think they have a good list of who needs a job.

I live in MI. Whitmer thinks she has more control over us than she actually does. Her followers look to her like she’s some kind of savior but those of us that know she’s a deep state pos, ignore her as best we can. Seeing her get arrested will be a day of celebration.
