Remember these guardsmen are just normal people tapped into the same online discussions everyone else is. These rumors are flying allover the net, and so it is likely they are traveling among the guard as well.
Honestly, I think most of the rumors start either here or on the chans. I usually see rumors here first as things are happening, and then later the rumor comes back in the form of a story like this one.
