You don't need to get any emergency food. That's for long term storage. Just go buy the food you would be eating(canned/dry) for the next two weeks. You don't want to just switch up your diet. Get powdered milk if the power is out.

You can get MREs at your local Army Surplus, usually.

Canned protein sources, spam, corned beef, canned ham.Canned veggies of course. Peanut butter and crackers. Dried fruit and granola bars. Pasta is good, rice and beans take time to cook so you may want to go with canned versions of these. Propane is a good way to cook if you can get 20lb bottles, the small ones are a rip off. There are heaters that attach to a propane bottle that double as a stove. A coleman camp stove that uses unleaded gas is good. Like the other anons said, pancake.bread and corn bread mixes are good. Powdered milk and eggs are good.Chocolate milk mix makes the powdered milk more palatable. I agree with the other folks, just go to the dollar store or Sams or Costco and avoid the Survival people. Water is essential, I see it for a dollar a gallon. Fill your bathtub up with water so you can have water to flush your "Head". May God bless you!

Get some home depot orange buckets with screw top lids and fill them with bags of of dried rice and beans. Cheap and they last a long time.

You don't need to get emergency emergency. Get some just add water kind of stuff. Ramen, pancakes, fruits/vegs, any kind of pasta. Stuff that may not need refrigeration.

I am not sure where to get MRE's or the prepacked emergency food but here is mine two cents and what I usually get. Also, remember, this is emergency stuff, buy it from a cheaper grocery store/a dollar store. You only have to live on this stuff for a small time.

I try to buy in bulk the following items: Beans and brown rice. Beans are a great source of protein and brown rice is a great carbohydrate. Both last nearly forever as long as they are dry.

Any nut butter, peanut butter, almond butter, etc., whatever your budget can afford. Get the natural stuff and make sure it it only has the actual nut in it.

Sweet potatoes. They last forever and are dirt cheap. Try to eat a sweet potato in one sitting, it's impossible. They are a great source of nutrients as well.

Fat. Get some high quality fats such as unrefined coconut oil and avocado oil. That fat will help you stay full. Nuts are really good for this too. If you need something cheaper, go for anything that is expeller pressed, it has lower omega-6 which means lower inflammation in your body which is always a good thing. Olive oil, extra virgin is good too, just not my preference. Fats are always expensive so just keep that in mind.

Chia seeds are a great source of fiber, 5 grams per 1 Tbps. They are on the pricier side but well worth it. They are a great source of fiber, if not the best in my opinion. Fiber is often difficult to get when fresh vegetables aren't available.

Your favorite canned vegetables and canned fruits. Canned pineapples are the best in my opinion.

Salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and basil will go along way in nearly any dish.

2 weeks worth of supplies is what you want to aim for.

I hope this helps!

Well for God's sake people. Get some peanut butter, crackers, pork and beans, Canned meat, ect. You can live on this stuff. Get enough to help your neighbors too. Not everyone knows about this black out coming. God does not want us to suffer while this is going down. We will survive. Have faith. For those of us who have wells, if the power goes off, you will need water to flush and wash in. Use tall kitchen bags to line 5 gal buckets and close them up. They won't splash out if you need to transport it. Closed they stay clean.

When is it expected to happen? Always be prepared. I get that but do we have any idea of when?

Go find a restaurant supply warehouse near you and pick up a 50lb bag of rice\beans etc. Bullion cubes. The frozen meat section is awesome. They sell everything in big bulk sizes for cheap. #10 cans of chili. Those freeze dried survival emergency foods are nice but expensive. The stores up here in the NW are called cash and carry, I think the name changed recently.

Costco has 30-day buckets. Walmart has Augasan cans, variety depends on the store. Camping/sports stores may have backpacking food, pretty much the same thing (Mountain House is one brand).

MRE's--if you have local gun shows or shooting clubs, you can ask there.

Like dollar store canned goods, etc.

[ADD] Not MREs, but it can tide you over as a backup.
You can even store some in your car trunk, e.g.

The "survival food" is generally low in calories and in critical nutrients. you are best served by going to the local grocery store and buying what you would normally eat, just but a bunch of it. If you need to use it, you are not changing your diet and upsetting your body. If you don't need it immediately, you skip going to the grocery store for a couple weeks while you draw down your stocks. Plus, you don't have your money tied up in expensive buckets sitting on a shelf. Survival food is not the answer.

Stick with unprepared supplies, a sealed bag of rice lasts 5-10 years beans lasts 3-4 years pasta lasts 2 years canned foods lasts for 2 years

Your biggest issue is going to be water, if you're on city water thats going to be an issue. If you're on a well, your going to need a manual pump if the power goes out.
