My late brother got 4 weeks nick for refusing to pay his license. Told the judge he refuses to fund pedos and wouldn't watch their shit if they paid him to.

You have to pay the license fee simply for owning a TV or device capable of receiving BBC.

You don't have to watch BBC on that TV but BBC gets all the license fee money, other channels don't get any.
