Note 10+ on AT&T
I looked at my emergency notification settings. They can all be disabled except Presidential warnings, they are turned on and grayed out. I'm so glad I moved away from IShit products years ago.
What's "Verizon update"? Verizon does not run any updates. You mean your phone OS provider, Apple or Google? Apple is offering 14.4 update update, so far I have not done it.
If the emergency alert system is activated I guarantee nobody will miss the alert even if your phone disables the function. Especially people on here. We will purposely be the first to know.
Why the automatic assumption that it means emergency broadcast system? There are lots of other things that EBS stands for.. including a biotechnology company and an Ethiopian broadcast network.. just saying.
Just as a side note, Verizon does not send my phone updates (Pixel 5) google does.
I don't believe carriers typically send updates at all, the manufacturers do. Typically. Carrier BS can be added or sent as updates to My Verizon, but I'm fairly sure that CANT make system changes.
I haven't yet seen any hard proof that Verizon or Google or Apple have purposefully disabled those alerts.

Same here, Galaxy S20 on Verizon and only Presidential notifications can't be turned off.
I have Verizon, and my alerts were all still on when i Just checked.

Turn off auto update of your phone OS and apps.
I have been hitting ignore on the update. It is going to force the update, don't remember the day the alert said.

Assuming the site isn't down and internet as well.
I had an amber alert here in NC last weekend and nearly fell outta my chair to grab the phone..
Was the post #131 that said 3:04 am EBS? Meaning January 31st? I’ve checked mine and I refuse the auto software updates. I can’t miss this shit!

Mine never turned off.

Thanks. I did the update, delayed it until the last minute.
I saw similar claims a week ago but I never had that experience.
Mine all remain on . . . thanks for the heads-up though!
"Public safety messages" were off. Hmmmmm. Still had the Amber alerts though.
