Hey I was keeping an eye out on that thing too! Came from Germany... what the hell is it doing? Ah so many questions.
Edit. To answer your question, from my research, SAM means Special Air Mission. We see it often when military or government aircraft has someone important on board who isn't President or VP.
I've noticed interesting patterns in aircraft today as well. As though they aren't simply flying from point A to point B.
Watched an Apache fly out to a power plant and go 'dark' before making a loop around the plant, then turned transponders back on and flew back to base.
They seem to pop up and hover when certain planes are flying around. VIP planes.. foreign. We had a few Canada and UK today. Just what I’ve observed today. Once certain planes went through it appeared they’d land and go off radar. When another came through they were up again. It’s really interesting to see the movements. Just like this morning there was a plane party in UK and now it’s barely anything.
Yep they’ve been out and about today. A couple near me in Illinois when the UK airbus went flying over my house at insane speed. It was cool to see it on the map and see it actually happening over head
Sidenote-- looks like a damn hawk orgy over CO.
There are Speckled Feces based in Ft. Carson, they do a lot of air mobile ops while training.
It's the ones you don't see that are most interesting!
Not a hawk but SAM640. I'm new at this - what was the significance of a SAM? https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=ae0406

Thank you. :) Edit: I wonder if it's going to DC. Kind of looks like it at the moment. Edit: Joint Base Andrews
I don’t always planefag but when I do....I Blackhawk.
Anyone wants to sign in. There are about 10 War Ships off the west coast. But then there are about 20 High-Speed Crafts and unknown crafts in Yellow. That means they are Military, and You have to pull back and go past Hawaii to see them all. https://universe.fleetmon.com/explorer/location/4.88/-130.76035/28.25067?baseLayer=fm-street
Do you by chance have a screenshot? I would have to pay to see the military ships. :(
Start up the roters
Blackhawks are awesome ! Love them. My kids love them too
For a nonplanefag - is this unusual?
most of the time when I planefag, I see a handful around the US. Maybe 5-10. Currently showing 35 now, with just a few on the ground.
Yes more today than other days I’ve watched. But how they’ve moved and when today is what I found interesting for sure
