Agreed. It's been that way for some time now unfortunately. The Constitution is treated like the Bible by many in leadership - they pick and choose the things they want or change the interpretation to suit their agenda and ignore the rest.

They WANT trump to be convicted in the Senate by a 50%+ majority, but not having the 2/3rds majority to do anything about it.
It's stupid politics. Republicans think that, by blocking the 2/3rds vote, it offers Americans a band-aid to soothe the fact that they stabbed our nation in the back during the election.
Don't accept their stupid band-aid. It doesn't make up for anything. In 2022, REFUSE to vote for a single Republican. Let them ALL get wiped out in the House and Senate and in the State Legislatures around the nation.

Many of those 44 Republican "nays"... also voted to certify the election that they KNEW was fraudulent. They were responsible for Pedo Biden being in office now.

Trump's team could lay out the whole plan, tell 'em every vote to impeach is treason, it doesnt count anymore, even have the military there armed with signed warrants for their arrests, and they'd still vote to impeach.

I don't have details of how the vote went along party lines. Not sure that it matters. DS is on both sides.
And even most of those nays came from people who know that their constituents are watching to see how they vote. Even McConnell voted no...and he's corrupt as the come. Romney...no surprise there...he claims to cling to his faith...he's going to hell with the rest of them.
Both my senators voted no, but they both voted to certify election w/o objection. Don't care what They do, they are anathema now.
