I think the only purpose of this "trial" is to introduce a whole lot of election fraud evidence into the public record. That should start tomorrow and continue Saturday.
I believe that is why the two Trump lawyers are both former prosecutors. Evidence is all they do - it makes or breaks a prosecutor's whole case, every time. With lots of practice, they should be pretty good at that, one would think.
I agree with this assessment, but Trump could've picked some more eloquent people. The evidence is sufficient in and of itself but the presentation matters to the sheeple. Say what you will about the Dems, but they talked circles around the defense.
It's like your uncle who was a former mechanic vs a slick car salesman who'll take the shirt off your back. We all know who we would trust, but the average person only listens to sound bites.
That said, I hope the evidence they bring out is even more damning than the stuff we've seen already... can't wait until they're all locked up
If the verdict has already been decided (which it has)... the goal of the attorneys may be to not change that verdict.
The Senate will rule by about 56 to 44 (possibly even 60 / 40) to find Trump guilty... but they will not reach the 2/3rds required to fully impeach Trump and force any actions. That's the agreed verdict made behind closed doors. The rest is just a show.
Trump's attorneys have two jobs.
Present any evidence they are ALLOWED to show to prove that Trump did nothing wrong.
Don't change the per-arranged verdict by doing or saying something stupid.
That's why they droned on endlessly and didn't really make a point. If possible, they could pull out Dr. Seuss books and read children's stories into the Senate record instead. Anything to fill time and not make any dumb mistakes.
They aren't trying to WIN. They aren't trying not to lose. All they are doing is not changing the agreed upon verdict.
Remember Andy Griffith at Ben Matlock? All I could think was the southern talking attorney in the white suit who fooled everyone until the boom was slammed down LOL
Shakespeare’s The Tempest explores themes of betrayal, forgiveness, colonialism, and servitude through the tale of a group of nobles stranded on a mysterious island.
Theyre doing exactly what they need to do.
I saw a few clips of the one guy rambling about a musician so I wasn’t sure
I understand. But his lawyers are former federal prosecutors, not defense attorneys. Prosecutors bring forth evidence.
THIS is NOT a court of Law! THIS is not even a proper impeachment trial.
THIS is a commercial, and these lawyers are lame.....get Matt Gaetz, someone who actually is on GEOTUS’ side....
Check out this thread. Good analysis. https://greatawakening.win/p/12hRGvFksK/impeachment-day-one--anon-analys/

reflecting on what you said, it seems not to jive with your argument.
This is for opening statements what is needed to be said. Delivery is interesting, juxtaposing one lawyer to the other.
THIS ^
They are NOT trying to WIN....another poor hiring choice, but probably the only lawyers left available.

I prefer the My Cousin Vinny version... Where is our Marissa Tomey?... lol
Shakespeare’s The Tempest explores themes of betrayal, forgiveness, colonialism, and servitude through the tale of a group of nobles stranded on a mysterious island.
Think logically.
They are garbage until proven otherwise.
What happened to Jay Sekulow?
My Cousin Vinny... remember the type of car in that movie...?
Pontiac Tempest
