I’m not an atty, but I believe the justices meet to discuss the cases and decide whether to hear the case. I believe 4 of them have to vote to move forward with hearing it. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in ?
This is correct. And while John means well, none of these discussions will be “on the record.” The only thing we’ll learn is whether or not the Court will hear the case, and maybe a short dissenting opinion if 1-3 justices think the Court should hear it but the others do not.
Unlikely they’ll make an exception to expedite here. They’ve given the case so far a normal (slow) briefing schedule. If they wanted to expedite, they would have done so already.

What is the meaning on “conference” in regards to SCOTUS? What should we be expecting to happen after the conference?

I think they decide whether to hear the case. Like a grand jury.
However, I believe they don't hear or rule on those case till October. Maybe they'll make an exception since this case is, you know, time sensitive.
This is my understanding, I might be wrong.

That's what I expect too but I hope I'm wrong. I've been wrong before.
OCTOBER?!!!! Oye vey.
Thank You!
