I've long known much of this, regarding a few parent companies owning the vast majority of other companies but wasn't the government supposed to have prevented this type of monopolization and never did?
I'm a firm believer that no company should be bailed out. There should also be limits on how many companies one can acquire. Some companies fail and fade away into memories and that's supposed to be ok.
Companies shouldn't be bought out by a much larger company just to keep it around. With all of that said, there is likely good reasoning for all of this.
Some of the companies that were failing and were bought out, the larger company can use them towards various tax write offs and even money laundering in different ways just like these mega billion non profits do.
Politicians probably allow it to happen because they get kick backs. I sure hope this is eventually addressed and stopped. The scams are never ending, truly.
You go to a gas station here in Tampa and often can get the big 44oz fountain soda for 79 cent to 99 cent but if you go to a restaurant, you'll pay $2.50 to $4.00 for the same fountain soda. Places make far too much profit off of things like soda.
There should be either some kind of law or more transparency with the insane price gouging going on in our daily lives. One time I bought a TV from Walmart and since I used to work in a shipping warehouse and one that did international shipping as well, I looked up certain codes on the stickers on the box to find out where Walmart bought TV from.
This was many years ago, the TV was $169 and the shipping manifesto had a truck load of those TVs for it was 9 dollars and something per TV. So essentially Walmart sold the TVs for something like 17 times more than what they paid.. This kind of scamming has gone on for a long time.
When it comes to making TVs, the cost of making a 65in TV vs a 32in Tv is minimal but the 65in is priced way higher for insane profits. That's why you see the big TVs go on sale but never the small TVs.
I know you posted this regarding woke companies but most companies have woke policies or some shit and we shouldn't let that stop us from enjoying a product we like.
Thankfully with modern times and online shopping being a common thing, I can at least look around for the best prices on things but even then, we are paying often 10 times more than we should for something.
These companies profit endless billions each and every year by selling shit with price hikes sometimes even higher than 30 times the original price it was bought for from the manufacturer.
When will we the people stop letting these fucking crooks rip us off? I say keep your current TV, keep your current phone, keep your current computer, monitor, laptop tablet, keep your current car. Put a squeeze on these fucks by not buying shit we don't absolutely need.
I feel dumb reading this
ABSOLUTELY. And If your old computer breaks you can buy a refurbished one for $50-100 from a hobbyist. We need to stop consuming as much as possible.
