Counterpoint: I do not agree that it's a LARP account by some South Asians. The way the archive.org wayback machine works is that it takes on the local settings of the archiver's browser. In this case, it happens to be that the archiving machine is Tamil. Why this is so is anyone's guess, but perhaps someone in India or Sri Lanka or someone with such a background took interest in it and decided to be the first to archive the Twitter page. None of the content however is in Tamil. The very next snapshot, on July 20, 2019, is in English:
It's not a counter-argument, but a counterpoint. I too want to know who exactly George is and whether or not we can trust them. But I will not forgive being told to distrust someone based on incorrect assumptions. If you say that George is South or Southeast Asian and it ultimately turns out that they are 100% born-and-bred American, then that would be a blow in our trust in your information. That is why I pointed that bit out.
As to counter-arguments, my first gut reaction to your post was to find something to disprove what you say, but now I realise I don't have any that are as solid as yours. You might think of me as 100% behind George given my post history, but you'd be wrong: I've only ever been hopeful about George being legit. But hope can only carry me so far: I too want results and confirmation. But I want to do it properly with 100% verifiable fact.
You make a good case for the paytriot-like structure of the entire George News system, and point out the odd relationships that George News has with the leftist platforms. What does strike me is the quality of the content that George is able to disseminate, and their support of President Trump. If we can get confirmation and actual proof, not merely speculation, that this is due to either infiltration or legitimate military access, then that would be fantastic.
I’m really glad for a critical examination. I hate confirmation bias. But some things will be really hard to prove conclusively in this war. I’m afraid in lieu of concrete proof many things must be left to discernment and our gut.

They have said multiple times that they are self-funded and not reliant on donations to stay afloat. I know that they were donating to Gen. Flynn's defense back in the day. They may very well still be donating the extra funds they are receiving--maybe to Lin's #fightback or Sidney's defendingtherepublic.org. I HAVE NO EVIDENCE for that--just throwing out a possibility--but they HAVE been very clear that they do NOT rely on us to stay financially afloat.
Regarding their stance on donations, one of my posts was a compilation of their first chat line, in which they asked their folks to not donate with superchat. This happened only once here.
It's very easy though to argue that they could have just been saying that to make themselves look good in the future, but then you'd have to forget that a chat log is only ever relevant for the live stream, and the live stream is just a slide-show running in the background. What I argue here is that they asked for no donations, realized quickly that people want to donate anyway (donors gonna donate), and so decided to just accept it from then on just to not have people bother them about having donation lines open.
Another argument I've raised somewhere is that the donation economy and merch demand will exist no matter what we or they say about the matter. So it would be better for them to take control of their segment of the economy rather than let unscrupulous dealers who would be guaranteed to be malicious to take advantage of their audience. Well, a counterargument to this of course is that they created that economy in the first place.
I too am on the fence. I think it sounds just slightly too good to be true but I’m not convinced either way. I’m very appreciative of the formal effort to investigate.
Agree. They don't push donations AT ALL, and barely advertise their store. And frankly, they DO have some cool stuff in their store! More power to 'em.
That's my view as well, the store stuff never really takes precedence. I've also argued in the past that the donation economy was always going to exist no matter what we say about it (donors gonna donate), so whatever George did in terms of merch and accepting superchats was to corner their segment of the donation economy.

I'm more worried about the " who's running the company and platform it is on" from your research then the pay part of it.
Though for sure it feels a bit like Alex Jones or Corsi.
They know the phrases that have been bandied about the most and are shamefully using them but they need more than that to earn trust.
