Matt 10:34 Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Not all forms of division are evil. There are two types of division. 1) division generated by the Enemy (evil) for the intent of destroying. 2) division instigated by God (good) for the purpose of separating out evil and upholding the Purpose of good.
It's critical to distinguish between these two diametrically opposed types of division.
I am against censorship as much as the next anon. Censorship is being used by the Enemy worldwide now to corral and undermine the human race, in each nation, state and community.
And, I'm certainly not what you'd call a fan of Cats5, but I think his stickied comment at the top is on point, and to THE point.
Just because something is 'religious' or touches on spiritual matters doesn't, and shouldn't, make it sacrosanct.
We need to stop banning people who disagree with us, stop censoring people who seem to have ulterior motives.
That's ONE side of the equation, but not the WHOLE equation. See below.
Can’t we just let the upvotes decide what stays and what goes?
Up to a point. There has to be SOME curation. Mods have to utilize and enforce the rules.
The standard of HIGH effort vs low effort, however, can be wielded a little too broadly and easily. Cat5 probably needs to realize that the members of this community are valuable anons and patriots, and deserve to be treated with a little respect. Don't let mod powers go to your head!
Middle ground
Balance is what is needed, imo. Catty could curb his voracious modding shearing a bit, it would help. Feedback is necessary, and when the enemy IS attacking using division, balance is what preserves overall integrity and cohesion.
So far, I've seen extremes: Cats5 deleting and removing posts and accounts even, seemingly willy nilly (despite his good intentions and motives); then calls for him to step down (aka this post).
Both sides need to work on their own extremes:
Cats to curb his propensities to some extent, and take stock of the feedback (that's his responsibility).
The community to respond to Cats initiative: to refocus on high effort posts and eschew low effort efforts (that's their responsibility) ...
That's the solution in my view, although it actually requires some effort and probably stepping outside the comfort zone for BOTH parties. You cannot FORCE someone to be responsible.
Awareness of this point will help.
Cohesion and resilience are forged via active execution of responsibility by all parties involved. No other way around it. And just pointing to one side, or the other, and saying "its your fault" can help if its feedback, but then the next step has to be "I've got to improve MY game".
A community formed from people with such an attitude and integrity will be invincible and indeed, impervious to division the Enemy attempts to sow.

Thank you for your thoughts and detailed response. I agree with your points and Cats’ response. Let keep the board “high energy.”
Thanks Cloud. I appreciate the sincerity your attempting to throw into the mix.
There are other dimensions to all this, as I'm finding out, including evspra's departure, and issues inside the mod system.
Feels a bit like fog of war has descended on GWIN....
Anyway, be well.
