It's around. It's just WAY more expensive than it used to be. Are you in a state that doesn't restrict ammo purchases? If you're in CA, NY, IL or NJ, you may not have luck with that. If not, try making an account on gunbroker.com and you'll find ammo to buy.
Cheaper Than Dirt has lots of ammo and if you get emails from them, they let ya know when fresh stock comes in..
Good to know - I had previously ordered from them, some mags and a sling, etc. But when the china virus hit, they were starting to gouge people with their prices, and a lot of people walked away from them, including myself. I would just check their prices against others to make sure they're not at it again.
They show boxes, cans, battle packs, but no prices-you have to log in.. they may be taking advantage of the 'lead shortage' ...
They've done it before, so....I wouldn't ever tell someone NOT to buy from them, because although I don't agree with what they do, at least they're not liberal douchebags, they're still on the right side selling ammunition and other firearm accessories. And if they were the only place you could get it, then what else can you do, so I just recommend proceeding with caution on that particular site. Exhaust other possibilities first, maybe. Gunbroker has been a good site IMHO - it's like ebay for firearms, so the prices are more market-driven.
Im in the south east. There shouldn't be any restrictions here. the shelves just stay empty.
Yeah go to gunbroker.com then. Also gunmagwarehouse.com is now selling ammo. If you can't get it in person, you'll have to look into getting it online - I would do so now before congress does away with it. You can get bulk ammo (500 rds+) on gunbroker.com for sure. It just isn't cheap, but honestly I'm in Ohio and we have stores here that still have ammo on the shelves - the prices are not that different between the two. Or, maybe take a road trip somewhere. Bud's gun shop in KY tends to stay stocked from what I've read...best of luck to you, fren!
thanks bud!
No problem - good luck!

In Michigan ammo for popular platforms are hard to find on the shelves. Less popular is readily available.
Most gunshops have .556 and .223 but will only sell 300 rounds upon purchase of a weapon. Same with 9mm and .45. You can get 12 gauge 9 shot or 6 shot easily but slugs and buckshot are impossible. And the ammo you do find on the shelves is of the FMJ variety used in target shooting not self defense. Same at ammoseek.
Ammoseek is an aggregator that keeps track of new offers from dozens of manufacturers. The only problem is you need to use a card to buy it and then the government knows of your purchase.
Ammoseek.com aggregates prices. Great tool for finding ammo.
It hasn't been hard to get lately for me, but it has been expensive.
