I wonder where the artists have to be located. If that's one of the "strings" that isn't there, then who do I email to let them know that I'm an artist. I copy Bob Ross paintings pretty well.
We could bankrupt them pretty quickly, considering how quickly we can take over an online poll.
The entire "starving artist" concept is based on an assumption that while up and coming artists have it tough, the very small percentage that are actually talented will eventually bubble up to the top. This approach is just going to further dilute the talent pool and kill that process. Now everyone will want to try to be an artist and over time an artist will be no more interesting than someone running the cash register at a 7-11.
Gotta wonder how many funding bills go on to finance terrorist activity domestically. All the financing 'of color' only spend? Most of the foreign aid?
IMHO, SF really has not had much of an art/music scene for a long time compared to what it was in the past. I am not referring to druggies who just call themselves that, but people who actually make a living. When rent was as high as it was for the several years, everyone left. (What was the last band that came from SF Bay Area? Green Day? Think about it.) This is just pandering BS.
Friend of mine was a music teacher - lived in the city (rent controlled apartment). Fantastic drummer who was a studio musician but teaching was also a big part of his self support. Very good one too - extremely patient. Found out last month he died of a heart attack last fall. I have to wonder how much the stress of having a large portion of his livelihood ripped out from under him contributed to that. When I mention his passing to people, everyone asks if it was CV. Grrr...if you mean the charade of CV, then yes.
Is shitting on the sidewalk considered art now?
I saw that Oakland was going to be giving $500 per month "no strings attached." EXCEPT, oh yeah, you can't be white.
Nothing racist about that statement, it would be only racist if you mentioned any other color, race, gender or whatever. Ugh

We do need someone here to step up and make an artist claim. Let's see if they're really giving the money to someone other than themselves.
"Applicants must also meet an income qualification, and the program is encouraging artists from “historically marginalized communities” to apply."
Well that knocks me out of the running.
[they] finally figured out how to pay Antifa legally.

Yup. I'm sure a lot of Antifa members consider themselves "artists" on top of revolutionaries.

No strings attached. There's a puppet joke in there somewhere, but I have to get ready for work. Someone else find it please haha.
