Nothing. There was no TSA (Tits-and-Ass Agency), no X-ray machines, no magnetometer gates, no long lines to get onto concourses, no shoe removal, and when you landed, your family or other greeters could welcome you when you deplaned at the gate. It was civilized.
Now? Today? What we have would be laughable in the face of a dedicated terrorist team barging onto a concourse, equipped with MP5 submachine guns, hand grenades, and explosive body vests, fighting their way onto a fully-loaded airplane. ("Gasp! Don't give them any ideas!") Not to mention Abdul the Mechanic and his large lunchbox... Just like a COVID mask: all show and no blow.

That was 20 years ago. MAGALogic said it was going downhill for 30 years. I'm wondering what was going downhill 20-30 years ago.
I do remember meeting my aunt in the terminal in the 90s.
