You're not wrong about what deism is, but George Washington and many others that have been changed by modern, liberal institutions to be deists were not deists. Especially George Washington, he believed in God, Jesus, and miracles. He even claimed to have been the subject of a miracle where he had bullet holes in his shirt during a battle and his body was not struck by a single bullet.
I don't know how literal I believe all of Genesis is because it is one of the books most removed from its source at the time of writing and could have been a non-scientific (not a lot of scientific methodology back then), explanation of creation.
You will have to show sources that say they self-proclaimed themselves as deists or clearly and obviously rejected not only Jesus, but the Bible and or all miracles or you shouldn't be parroting liberal propaganda created by revisionist historians. Your discourse and viewpoint/beliefs are welcome
and valuable but this is a sore point because liberal institutions are trying to hijack our history and lie about our founders. I've heard Franklin, Jefferson, and others were deist but I really don't know if they were, but Washington was nilot a deist.
If you believe in God/Jesus you are Christian. You don't have to belong to a particular denomination. They invoke God oftentimes in their writing, ergo they were Christians.
Yeah. But they knew the power of the Bible and that’s why the Declaration and Constitution are directly derived from the word.
*I was an atheist not long ago. seriously, if anyone reading this is as stubborn as I was about religion, READ THE BIBLE. And research the history of it.
Doesn’t matter. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian values. Good vs evil. Read the Bible.
Many of the founding fathers actually practiced deism, not theism.
E: for the uneducated, Atheist is not the same as deist.
Deism accepts god but rejects the Bible
Theism accepts both god and the Bible
Atheism rejects both god and Bible
Please know the difference before you try to correct me.
Nope, they were pretty solid Christians and indicated as such in their writings.
Atheist != deist.
Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and a bunch more. They were deist not theists. Like you say, it is evident in their writing.
The way you responded tells me you don’t know what a deist is.
