Lots of luck with that. The price of rural properties is insane and when they go on the market they have 100 bids to choose from, sight unseen.
That was even in the wsj.
Once this disaster is over and we get a new normal, the people who thought they could farm will be ready to move back to the city and maybe you can pick up cheap rural property then.
Market scarcity is man made. There is no overpopulation. Once people wake up and see there is more than enough to go around they won’t throw buckets of cash. Then when people really wake up they’ll see they already have a head start to the 8 million human trafficking kids per year.
After the riots last year we left the burbs and headed to the country...well, septic, generator, propane, plenty of growing space, lots of deer. Never thought I'd see the day. Funny how perspectives change.
I managed to get a 1/2 acre lot in a rural subdivision that is largely undeveloped that has 2 community wells for under $6k in southern Oregon (red county, there’s only like 4 blue counties in Oregon) only thing i need to put in is a septic tank. Water line is there and ready to be hooked up. No water bill either, it’s part of the $200 per year HOA fee. HOA is very relaxed too, it’s there for the water system and the private 15 acre waterfront park that the community ownes.
It aint perfect but it’s something. Better than living in the city and renting.
If they wipe out my mortage I can stand to lose my savings, that's a 4:1 gain :)
However, I've always been told thatbif it seems to good to be true, it probably is. I'll believe it when it happens and not a minute before (but it would be nice and would cheer a lot of people up)
It's already almost worth peanuts. Go buy metals (lead and brass are metals, too), land and non perishables. Buy crypto if you know how its trading works. We're not commies, we work. Why should our money be allowed to remain idle ?
Ok so let's say this is accurate. What does that mean for our money? Should be take it out of the bank?
I’ve always done well with real estate. Now I’m thinking I need a place that has a well, septic, generator and a half decent growing season.

Sounds perfect! Best wishes!
