I get demoralized daily! I had a hearing today trying to get masks off my kids, I made great points but said at the beginning the school board had its mind made up before I even requested the hearing. The judge agreed with me and said essentially heaven help them if they are wrong. One of my points was what are the consequences to the board or the CDC or health “experts”, lose a seat, have to apologize “oops we were wrong” but we as parents have to deal with the real consequences, the real fallout. I said we are in an information war and are my kids to be collateral damage. He essentially reiterated what the board said, my kids individual health, education whatever doesn’t matter compared to the collective. I knew what the outcome was but still I felt demoralized...but I talked to my sister and I said the truth always comes out. I’m not giving up, I lost this battle but we will lose the war if we don’t keep fighting. I won’t live in the world they want to make.
I’ve contemplated it, but my 16 desperately needs to be out of the house, we moved here just before covid and he is a social child by nature. He has been alone for over a year and suffering for it. My 14, 12 and 8 yo don’t want to, they will put up with it if they must (no covid shot ever). My 11 yo would probably prefer it but he too has no friends yet. My 7 yo is special needs and I can’t provide what he needs and it’s far too expensive to do private education, his teachers and therapists are amazing. We also moved here just before covid for the schools (not impressed though) so I’m paying a small fortune in taxes. However I have drawn my line in the sand and if it doesn’t change they will not be returning in the fall. Except my youngest, he is exempted from the rules
Yeah my son is too, he actually really likes Crowder and always finds kids like himself. We unfortunately moved from Az to Ks just before covid and no other ways to make friends that we know of, the isolation is horrible He is a terrible student to be honest, I can’t kid myself. If he doesn’t continue the next 2 years he may wind up being a drop out. Smart boy though, but hates school work. He basically only passes by doing well on tests if possible. His teacher basically made a deal with him that his grade can be the last 2 tests. I’m playing it by ear though, I won’t register any of them till I have confirmation there will be no masks.
Even their line of reasoning is wrong. It won’t just be your individual kid suffering. If yours does, many others will.
But we still have to fight. We don’t fight because an outcome is guaranteed. Don’t go down without swinging. The only guaranteed outcome is if you give up.

Homeschool. You can do it. You know what they need to know, and more importantly what they shouldn't be learning.

My oldest is 17, he's been unschooling since third grade. What an impressive and self motivated young man. Based as fuck too.
Good luck.

Yes! That’s the fighting spirit I’m trying to find here. I’ve found a small group but I’m hopeful we can grow it.
