I think this is a HUGE part of the problem. Even if the state wide elections do favor blue candidates how many state congressional seats did they cheat to get those super majorities in certain states. There is zero doubt for the past few decades this voter fraud crap has played a huge part in screwing up "blue states". Instead of rocky power they have to struggle to keep they have absolute power and listen to no one but the craziest of the left.
