Due to a change in hobbies a few years back, I pay much closer attention to the weather and water levels than ever before. Things I used to not even consider, or would take completely for granted are now a part of my daily thoughts.
But surely I'm not the only one who has noticed that something is off this spring? Water is insanely low, it's been warmish for weeks and the spring flood (from the Rockies) hasn't even begun yet where I am. I stood on a bridge on March 23rd 2 years ago as RV sized blocks of ice smashed into the pillars with such force I thought myself and the bridge were going to go with it. Water over 4m high. Last weekend, mid-April? 0.7m, the river is almost at a standstill. Mind you, it's not unheard of for the spring flood to start late, but it feels like it's been rather mild this spring so why the delay? Also noticed that everywhere I was considering going next weekend within 200km in any direction had the exact same weather forecast more or less; gloomy. Led me to just start expanding my search and noticing that most of Canada has a very similar forecast for the next 2 weeks. There are usually at least a few different systems going on in this big country. Just "April showers" so to speak? Or something else? A few other strange things have me starting to wonder wtf is going on. If you can control the weather (they can, and do) then who needs an old fashioned style FF event? I feel like this summer is going to be very hot for some, and very wet for others. I also fear there may be a "big one" so to speak. Hope I'm wrong but something doesn't feel right. Shill Gates just became the single largest landholder in the US then announces he wants to block out the sun.
So, what's the deal?
Good day all, hope it's a bright one.
Okay my husband has this theory! That our seasons have shifted by almost a month. Here in Michigan it is evident that the weather has changed a great deal. It’s spring and fall that are the most notable. We have had some April showers but it’s nothing like it was even 5 years ago. April here used to rain literally all month. Michigan turned into one big swampy pot hole. Then May would be warm and dry up and then normal summers, fall would start late September and snow and cold by October. The last few years we get barely any rain in April still cool in may doesn’t get really summer all the way to June. Then fall doesn’t start until October and no snow to speak of until close to Christmas. It caused a ton of issues with the crops last year in Michigan because it just didn’t clear up early enough to get the crops down. Corn should be knee high by the 4th of July. Yeah it def wasn’t and the whole state was humming with how things have shifted.
It’s the grand solar minimum
We here in Southern (Kentucky) have just made a weather record for the latest snowfall ever. April 20, 2021. That also included parts of Tennessee. I couldn't believe it when I looked out at 9:30 PM and saw it steadily coming down. Got about a half inch that melted the next day; but snow is still snow. The weather is surely getting weird. You're right. We best keep our eyes on it.
Yup. Snow in Alberta. Snow in Quebec. Snow in Ontario. All at the same time, and all very late in the year. Here and there, okay, but so widespread? I was definitely not expecting to hear it's snowing in Kentucky or Tennessee this time of year. Just one of many things that seems off. Like you said, good to keep an eye on at least.
The latest I had ever remembered it snowing was April 18. I was probably in my early 20's then. I am 61 now. But I remember that snow well. It was just a light coating but it was still snow. I remember when most winters we don't have any snow at all. But for the last 5/6 years; we have had snow every winter. Go figure.
I live in the South, at my current home for 26 years, and I'm an avid gardener. I also pay close attention to weather and seasonal trends. This year we had a 15" snowfal which is almost unheard of, along with temps @ -5°F, which is definitely unheard of. Even before that, I noticed that spring was running late regarding plant growth, later than I've ever seen. We just had another freeze which wiped out my tomato and pepper plants just 1.5wks before May! Strange indeed. I've also been reading a lot about the Grand Solar Minimum we are headed into. I think much more weirdness is in our future. Growing seasons are going to change just in time for Gates to let our growing fields lay barren. All I can say is people better prepare for the cold and the food shortages.
we just got the ealiest tornado ever the other day here in CT
It's been cooler than normal in the deep south. We have to use our heat a bit.
Was going to post the same. Here in TX, April has been cooler than past April’s. Yesterday morning, we had lows in the mid 30’s.
