I convinced my mother to go to a big box maskless for the first time today! I reminded her that I've never really worn them and that I used to have to pray about it beforehand and sometimes read my bible in the parking lot to be sure I was in the right frame of mind in case of conflict, but I've never had a problem. I just do that if needed, then go in, talk, smile, go about my business, and completely ignore anyone else doing anything other than that. It was great that my mom did that. She's already had a mask infection in her nasal skin and cartilage and she's got asthma and an autoimmune disease anymore, so I was so proud of her!

Way to go. My elderly mother will go mask less if someone is with her. I'm okay with that as she is not safe when shopping alone and does not need anyone harassing her over a stupid mask.
Congrats to you both...keep it up
Good for her. Especially having asthma, she would be exempt from wearing them anyway. I hope she realizes she has that choice.
She knew that. It's just that thing so many get of wanting to avoid conflict.
If only they could turn that attitude around and make it a game, make it fun.
Depend where you are. Many stores here in CA couldn't care less about exemptions, they just tell you to order online. Even if you identify as dis-internet-enfranchised minority. Anyway they're total jerks and get in your face, legal or not.
Then it's time for people to seek the legal remedies available.
Nice job, mom! You are a great support. I hope others follow suit.
