Context: I lived in RI for 9 years and it’s gotten to be too much. No good jobs around. The higher paying jobs are 45min away in Mass. and those high paying jobs arent even more than $17 an hour.
The colleges have all been indoctrinated. I go down Thayer St and see every single college kid wearing masks in public. Our new governor (Sorry about the new Commerce Sec Gina Raimondo btw) just announced we dont need masks outside anymore, so you get where I’m coming from.
I get PA has a Gov thats an islamic sympathizer, but the Senate over the winter gave me hope that this wont last long. And the AZ audit. I feel like despite the leadership in PA, the people there know whats up.
Finally, i’ll be a couple hours closer to my family so theres that.
Wish me luck boys! Not tryna be a basement dweller for long, how am I supposed to keep my tan going?!
Edit: also, Providence is building a bunch of apartments because Boston residents would rather live in Prov with “cheaper” rent and commute to Boston. So thats gonna drive up the market even more because for all intents and purposes, we have “illegal aliens” living in areas where actual RI residents could be living.
Count your blessings. I wish I could move in to Moms basement. That would mean she was still with me.
(hugs) I'm sorry❤
Rhode island, led by gina, is currently trash. She's flushing us down the hole for personal and professional gain, voted worst governor in the nation at one point. Don't remember the exact details, but it's definitely something I remember looking into.
As a rhode island resident and native, I couldn't agree more. Unless you work in a field that she benefits from, like the pot business her husband is invested in, there is very little growth and no new jobs.
I barely have any idea how the details of posting and such work on this site as I primarily lurk, but if you can direct message through this platform hit me up and I might be able to send you in a direction for a good paying jobs. Offer for original poster only
I appreciate that. But i’m moving this Saturday lol. If you know anyone in the Lehigh area though i’m into warehouse work. I like places where you just do your job well and nobody bothers you.
Too bad, we definitely are hiring warehouse workers with good wages, among other positions. Not sure of anything in Lehigh, but I hope you find something great!
I've started over more than once. Keep your chin up, good things will happen for you. God bless..
Sounds like a wise move!
I been on unemployment for a while and I feel bad saying that because how the gov set it up it’s so hard to go back into the workforce without feeling like a schmuck either way. Either I stay on unemployment and be yet another lazy bum or I go find decent work and a decent pay, but i’ll be making LESS money than when I was sitting around doing nothing (making $600 more on unemployment than when I was working). I made the decision to get out because I knew it wasn’t good to be on it but i’m hating myself because now I’m gonna be in the workforce wearing masks and sweating my balls off. Making less money than I was when I was sleeping all day.
It’s a disgusting system.
Stay on it and take online courses or volunteer in a field you are passionate about, something to beef up your resume so when you do interview, you have skills others might not have. Employers pay the unemployment insurance tax so you are sticking it to your old employer being on it. The less employees they get rid off the lower their rates should be. It might be different for the Covid unemployment, but don’t take a crappy job just because.
It’s because of Covid thats why. With Covid they increase your benefits by another $300 and its weekly! So i’m getting my percentage of my pay AND an extra $1200 a month basically.
Hey man, I feel for you. I live in you guys hat, but in the shitty part (Ontario). Prices are through the roof for solo living, I work 2 jobs, and still live with my grandparents. If I took unemployment, I would be making significantly more then what I do working, but then I wouldn't have a purpose to getting up in the morning.
All I can say is keep trying, save up your cash where you can, and live your life how you want to live it. If anything, maybe start a garden 8f your parents have the space, save some money on your food bill.
