I've been drinking pine needle tea most of my life. Staying with my grandparents on the rez it was common practice. It's extremely high in vitamin C. It's pretty good with a coupled of drops of honey.
A little trivia: In their first winter in America the Pilgrims were dying of scurvy (uncontrolled diarrhea) . Scurvy is caused by a lack of vitamin C. The local tribes made pine needle tea for them and saved their lives.
That’s interesting, thanks for sharing! How is the flavor? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before. I like drinking camomile tea, I also have turmeric tea, dandelion tea, and others.
It's hard to explain the flavor because I can't think of anything it compares to. The best I can describe it is slightly tangy, mildly citrus tasting with an aromatic aftertaste. It doesn't taste like pine sap or turpentine as you would think.
Tanqueray?
In hindsight maybe shouldn't have helped. Just saying
