Science is meant to be questioned, tested, reviewed, analyzed, and attempted to be disproven. They use the term science while doing all they can to assure nobody applies the scientific method.
COVID science is anti-science. Period.

Perhaps by saying "Trust the Science" they assume people will just blindly trust the science w/o question? The majority of their worshipers do exactly that.
Remember when Doctors used to prescribe cigarettes and oil companies had scientists on the payroll writing papers on how tetraethyl lead was harmless?
They saw everyone ridiculing their beliefs and their willingness to blindly follow the religion of wokeness. So they hopped tracks to claiming their beliefs weren't beliefs, they were facts, backed by science. They even trotted out Bill Nye's withered husk to preach about "settled science" in regards to their gender delusions. They figured people surely couldn't argue with SCIENCE.
The twits in government assumed the same thing when they engineered this pandemic, thinking the sheeple would surely never argue with science and doctors. All they had to do was say "It's fact, don't you trust facts? Don't you trust SCIENCE?"
But, as you mentioned, science means that the subject of study is under constant scrutiny. The number of doctors and scientists popping up to say "Hey, so... these vaccines are a fucking health disaster" is alarming and should warrant immediate investigation and intensive testing. But instead, those doctors and scientists are being threatened, silenced, and barred from their professions because it's not the facts the left wants.

That was the scientific method being applied.
Mask science, taking vaccines before proven safe science, discrediting all arguments against their junk science, censorship against dissent.
They apply what they want to what they want. Anything else isn't science to them. Challenges and questions not allowed.
Virologists and epidemiologists used the scientific method as it applies to their specific fields. What else do you expect?
They're not contacting psychiatrists, cardiologists, or any other random scientific expertise because that would make no logical sense.
