Darwyn, I think might know you from Eris lol. This obviously isn't my nickname there, or elsewhere. But if yours is close to what it is here, we've met.
Regardless you guys are making me happy talking about all this stupid shit afterive had an absolute ball breaking day.
This is actually my real name. I gave up on using an anonymous handle online. Its far to easy to track people down. I used to do it all the time. I would tell you my nickname on EFnet but I try not to write the two in the same place. I guess you could say I was a white-hat channel hacker and a lot of very bad people would love nothing ore than to hurt me. Its been 20 years but there are a handful of people that if they could find me IRL I really believe they would show up at my house and try to harm me. Although sometimes I'm not sure why I care any more.
EFnet used to be Dodge City back in the day. I was there for Pepsi and puke and smurf etc. I used to have all the tools of the trade even made a few of my own with help from friends. The only person I really miss is my old pal Dianora. Hehe. I'm not sure if she hated me or loved me but she was always fun.
Thanks for the stories, my day got better, as they always do. I've been on ef since 94 or so, and have hung out with all kinds of wack jobs, criminally insane and pure evil people. Some saints too, but they're further apart and tend to die or move on. Dianora rings a bell but only in the "the totally a woman on IRC's nickname." kind of way. It is a shame we have to be so obtuse with our identities but we all know why. it may be easy to find us, but might as well make it hard to tie us together.
Yeah, Dianoa was an IRCop. She coded a lot of the server code. She pretty much ran EFnet for years. I dealt with her a lot because for about 3 years I sold Unix shells to people so they could run eggdrops etc. That meant I had to deal with people being banned and misbehaving etc thus I had to deal with IRCops a lot..
Wonder if I ever used your service? I know I've used a few over the years, but it's been awhile. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is still around (has been forever) so that's not you. But I have vague early 2000s memories of a couple different shell services. Ugh memory lane. I'll drop carrier now. It's been a blast. :)
