Homeschooled and homeschooler here. It's unbelievable how ignorant most people are to education and what homeschooling actually is.
They all picture the same weird homeschool family that dress like quakers and don't socialize except for a couple hours on Sunday -- which do exist -- but ignore the 99.9% of homeschoolers who are by far the most well-adjusted and successful adults when compared to their public-schooled counterparts.
My kids are in JuJitsu, rolling with other unmasked kids. It’s the life.
Yes. Thank you for homeschooling.
And, in many school districts homeschoolers have access to sports and other extra-curriculum activities in their districts. My grandchildren have been homeschooled since the Covid lockdowns. They are now a grade ahead of their peers. Previously they were struggling to keep up.They're also much happier, more curious about most subjects, and healthier as well.
And homeschoolers can share including parent teachers. If 1 parent is great in history, another home ec, another social graces, etc. I know of a church that rents out its hall for homeschooling parents and kids to interact. very successful
What; are there rules against homeschoolers joining regular / standard little league & soccer programs that aren't put on by schools, but other organizations?
I just checked and The little league club in my area is affiliated with a nation-wide non-profit little league group.
I doubt there's any reason that homeschooled kids wouldn't be able to join a league like this....
I was homschooled and back in the 90s I played little league sponsored by the city, so anyone could join. This was in Oklahoma and back then I heard that I could join public school activities because we pay for it with our taxes, but we never did.
Side note, Oklahoma has homeschool rights in its state constitution from inception. When I finished homeschool, I went to a state college, no diploma or GED required, and when I got an associate degree, I applied for and received an honorary high school diploma from the state. I wish more states were like this. They didn't let my situation get in the way of my progress.
For the teachers (mostly self-serving union thugs) "socialized" meant turning kids into socialists.
The teachers union must go, it's now a political weapon and has nothing to do with educating the children. Flush it down the toilet.
The two kids we home schooled long before it was popular have a large, but tight social circle. They are very good at sizing people up. They are 37 and 41. One owns their own business which has been wide open through covid. The other works at a major Corp who only did only a two week shut down during the last year. Both make 6 figure incomes.
Congratulations, Mom/Dad!
Thank you. But, most of it is very self motivated kids.
i did "school school" and home school. Home school was better by far.
edit- if you know someone else homeschooling and you want your kids to know some other kids. Consider a co-op.
This idea of kids not getting "socialized" is a joke. What happened to all those kids that grew up on isolated farms or prairie homes? Picture a family with 10 kids - did all those kids grow up to be antisocial monsters? Of course not.
While I wasn't homeschooled, I did miss a lot of school because of illness. I recognize now that a lot of my independent thought is rooted in that experience. I'm sure I probably missed some things but overall I don't think I would have grown up to be "awake" if I had to break through all that indoctrination first.

This is a good video that explains why secular people are so against homeschool. They’re are disciples of Caesar
To be honest, this is what I first thought years ago. Then I met some homeschooler moms. Their children seem to be more socialized than public school children these days. I wish I would have homeschooled my children - at least my youngest. Too late now but I wish I had.
Schooling by radio was common once in the Australian outback.
Socialized. Like they socialized factories in socialist countries.
Our kids have always been home educated. They are way better socialized than any PS kid I've ever met. My kids can interact with adults, older adults, peers, as well as infants and you get children. They enjoy people of all ages.
From my personal experince before covid a kid that was home schooled did not have great social skills. Right now im seeing this in real time with my sisters kid. Hes rarely around kids so when he does get around them he doesnt know how to act. Homeschool should be a choice for those who want to do it but i will always advocate for in person learning
and that's a good thing
I wish I had been home schooled. Would have saved me from some bad influences and decisions.
You spelled "socialistized" wrongly.
Oh no I didn't! Its proper English spelling.
Pardon me-- socialistised.
You spelled brainwashed by communists wrong kek
