She obviously doesn't believe that anyone could genuinely love her. She's looking for an ulterior motive to allow her to continue to her belief in a faux social acceptance by her peers. Little does she realize her father cares for her much more than the group from whom she is desperately trying to win approval. It is criminal what this culture has done to the bonds between family. There is simply no way to counter the combined influence of the schools and Hollywood.
