Is car insurance higher? I didn't even know that, I been paying through the nose since I got my driver's license at 16, I just figured that was normal, and went for PIP until I got a new car in my late twenties.
Your analysis is spot on...Jersey is hell! How about we talk about property taxes next? "Jersey hell" beats the snot out of FL on that!
Oh and another surprise, they charge you to sit on the beach here, you have to buy a pass and show the beach police...No offense to native Jersey folk but your state sucks...
It is because all the uninsured drivers in FL, I think they only need to show proof of insurance when buying the car, but can drop it the next day. No idea how this is legal. My folks are snowbirds and used their NC address for car insurance, saved 3k a year and this is with USAA.
I don't know, in my county you have to show proof of insurance to renew your plates every year, they won't let you do it on line if your insurance isn't up to date.
I recently moved from commiefornia to AZ Mountains and I figured it would be cheaper based on my research but AZ is crazy expensive for new cars, 1000ish. Luckily my car is older and my husband is a disabled veteran so we got a great deal, 52 for two years! Way cheaper than CA. Property tax is great though!

Yes, it's pretty high here in Florida.
I lived 20 years in Fl and had to move to NJ....30% higher here than FL.
