I have a friend who went to Mexico pre-Covid and noticed that Coca-Cola got the entire population addicted to Coke. He was amazed at how many people buy it and drink. And as a result -> rampant diabetes.
Love the fact that he did it, knowing Coke is a sponsor. But lets look at the facts behind it:
He did it because he's on an athlete's diet and sugar water isn't part of that. He's promoting healthy choices.
That $5B dollars they're talking about has nothing to do with Ronaldo or Coke stock. It's projected lost sales in the quarter.
The reality is that $5B projected drop in sales is on top of the actual ~$4B they lost last quarter. The MSM is trying to spin it as celebrities have outsized endorsement power. It's not because of some soccer guy- it's because we boycotted Coke and continue to do so. Don't let them tell you any differently.
