1992 Presidential election.
Bush threw the election because he couldn't get NAFTA pushed through with Democrat opposition. Clinton could get it pushed through.
Ross Perot would have won, but he dropped out right after the Democrat convention when it would give Clinton the biggest bounce, then got back in when Bush started gaining on Clinton in the polls.
Perot later said he originally dropped out because his family was threatened.
Bush got pounded on the economy, with all the news outlets saying the fourth quarter numbers were going to be horrible.
On election night, as soon as Clinton had it locked, David Brinkley, on ABC , said, "Well, one thing the new president has going for him is a rebounding economy. We've just gotten the fourth quarter numbers in..."
It was the first time I saw the whiplash in coverage when they wanted to change the narrative.
I've never believed anything on the news since then.
My first awakening experience to the Mainstream Media was the murder of a Black man, James Byrd, on June 7, 1998 in Jasper, Texas.
According to the media, three white supremacists (Shawn Berry, Lawrence Brewer, and John King) killed Byrd by dragging him behind a pickup truck for three miles. The media claimed it was all a big racial incident and it was a random attack because the victim was Black. It set off a national medial storm, protests, etc... .
The thing is, James Byrd and two of the three killers KNEW each other very well. They had all been in the same prison together a few months earlier and shared the same dormitory style unit. They ate breakfast, lunch and dinner together for months, had clean-up detail together and were around each other basically 24/7 for months. There were arguments and physical confrontations between the perps and Byrd, threats exchanged and people certainly knew that that three men hated each other. Their constant bickering was always getting the prison unit in trouble and caused grief for the other prisoners.
When the perps were released, they KNEW where Byrd lived and they went looking for him. It was targeted and was a prison fight that happened outside of prison. It wasn't a random attack at all.
What happened wasn't right... but the press totally LIED about it. ALL of the news stations knew that the men were all former prisoners together, that they all knew each other and that there was bad blood between them. They knew. Instead, the press lied to the public and made it sound as if it were a random attack.
There is a park now in Jasper Texas with a statue in James Byrd's honor. The guy was a total scumbag. I only know a little about James Byrd, but none of it was good. The other guys were bad news as well. What happened was obviously wrong.
However, I learned from that incident how quickly the Main Stream Media will LIE to the American Public. They manipulated the incident to push a false narrative and stir up racial hatred in America. They HID the truth.
That was the last time I ever trusted the media on anything. From there on, my eyes were open to just how they manipulate news stories, how often they lie or hide the truth... to serve their own agenda. I never listened to national news again except with a healthy dose of skepticism.
Anything is possible... but NOT in the prison unit where they were last held together for several months. I doubt it ever happened like that.
They just hated each other and kept getting on each other's nerves. That's all it took to cause altercations. It didn't need to be anything more than that.
The point was that Main Stream Media acted like it was a completely random incident. Three white men happened upon an innocent black man walking down the road and decided to chain him to the back of the pickup truck and drag him to death. The poor guy was just an innocent victim of racism. That was the whole narrative.
The truth is that none of the people involved were innocent. The media knowingly lied to our entire nation... and got race riots started as a result... just to cause more division.
9/11 in general but I think it took me a few weeks to realize it was total bullshit. When the anthrax distraction started is when I decided nothing they were saying was true.
First I knew was BS: 9/11 when all the fire damage was at the top of the buildings and they imploded/pancaked. That was just too weird to be caused the way it was portrayed.
911 was the first time I realized how big the lies were. I was still young but shocked by how people were happy to overlook simple physics and not use common sense but buy the MSM narrative.
I lived in Texas during the Waco siege, I was around 9 years old at the time, I remember it being on TV's every where I went, home, school, the babysitters house. I was too young to even care, but learned the truth about the whole mess within the last year, it's weird that I can connect it with clear memories of my childhood.
I was a dumb grunt of an infantryman in the USMC at the time.
One of the work parties often used to eat up or spades playing time was the cleaning and maint at the battalion HQ.
In between scrubbing wax off floors, rewaxing and polishing said floors, and other chore work, OIC or senior SNCO of S2 (intel) or S3 (ops) would grab us up and declare a smoke break.
We'd all go outside and kick back for a bit smoking our cigs and then it would begin. Casual, almost sly, and sneaky, the conversation led by the OIC or SNCO would drift toward the events of import that had the potential to impact us directly or indirectly.
On occasion, the Battalion CO, XO or Sgt Maj would wander out to join the "smoke break" yakity yak.
I still remember how my headspace and timing was thrown out of wack when it was first asked of us young grunts, how we felt about our federal gov being at war with itself.
DEA at war, taking and making casualties "fighting" the drug war, the CIA at war, making and taking casualties using the cartels, guerilla groups running drugs for their own ends. And as often as not, the casualties were DEA or CIA agents/assets inflicted one on the other.

9/11... specifically WTC 7. Purposely dropped. Largest crime scene on American soil was completely hauled off in a hurry... I wonder why?

Watergate. I was in grade school. It seemed overblown even from a child's perspective.
