Actually, I'm reminded of how Portugal decriminalized drugs. Libtards take that to mean that doing drugs is alright there, but that's not the case. You still get into trouble for doing drugs there, but by decriminalizing drugs it means that when you're caught they don't just toss you in a jail, but that you are rehabilitated. In the end, it costs less and the cost/impact on society is far less as well.
I was in Lisbon and every few minutes someone asking if I wanted weed. Almost literally fighting them off. I did not know about their decriminalisation so I wrongly assumed it was some kind of tourist scam or police sting. Wish I had known!
I dunno about weed, but from what I understand the police there will nab you for drugs. They just rehabilitate drug users instead of just tossing them in jail. I have a tweaker cousin who has been in and out of prison his entire adult life. He may go clean for a while after getting out, but then he gets caught up with the same friends, then it's grand theft auto or something again and he's back in the slammer. If he had been rehabilitated, he may be drug free and wouldn't have a prison record and therefore he might get a job as a car salesman or something because he's a phony schmooze.
Yeah our prisons in Australia are like little hotel rooms too, pretty chill you get internet and stuff, the really bad guys just gets sent to an island prison xD
Until they turned the country that was a prison back into one. By the way I recognise your avatar… might have seen it once or twice on a certain board
European prisons are more focused on the rehabilitation part of a prison sentence than American "for profit" prisons.
FTFY
Wait, so trying to fix people is a thing? I thought the idea was to punish someone in such a way that their only option is crime?
