Just ditch chrome entirely. It isn't difficult, takes 10 minutes to uninstall from every device and install brave, then change your default browser in the settings
I’ve read some things that it’s not as private as you think. They have Brave Rewards which at least compensates you a little for the data they mine. So they’re just a little more transparent with their spying, but they aren’t private.
Like Vivaldi a lot. Was disappointed to find they are a woke company. They jumped on one of the recent corporate liberal pile-ons. Something like gay pride month, or force events out of Georgia, or something of that nature. What it actually was escapes me at the moment.
I did not know Opera was owned by CCP!?! That breaks my heart. Used to love it, haven't used it in forever, but it held a very special place in my heart back in the day.
You can also just disable the advertising and rewards?
I've had no issues with Brave harvesting any data. Unless they're absolute subversive geniuses and take every precaution to not get caught doing it over the course of several prolonged trials with carefully monitored network traffic, which seems pretty unlikely, I don't doubt that the browser is clean.
The extensions you chose to install, however, or the sites you visit, are entirely separate things.
I use duck duck go. And when I see a YouTube video on here and I try to like it. It won't allow me to like anonymously
That's youtube policy. Alphabet Inc (GOOGLE) owns youtube and you have to login with gmail, etc in order to post.
Yep, just updated and Brave Search is offered so that is now my new search engine.
Yes! Just set it to my default. I love how brave browser pimps youtube.
Interesting & thanks for the tip! I've installed Brave, not totally migrated over yet.
Along this topic; does anyone have a good app / system for syncing bookmarks between different browsers?
I tried to switch to Brave, had to switch back to Chrome. Imported Chrome bookmarks into brave, added some bookmarks there that are not in Chrome.
Would like to merge browser bookmarks between Chrome & Brave, and on my PC's and iPhone / iPad.
Not the end of the world, but would be nice..... I know there are a few apps out there, kind of like XMarks, which I think is dead now.

This is why I switched to Vivaldi. Opera is Chinese-owned.
How do you like Vivaldi? How is it on memory management, multiple tabs, etc?
