Absolutely wrong to say that nobody has done more to push back than DeSantis. Noem pushed back for a full year and became a speaker at CPAC where she spoke about the ridicule she faced. DeSantis who agreed to lockdowns and masks ended up taking all the credit. That's bullshit.
As I mentioned already I live in SD. And yes it's horse shit that Kristi kissed ring and bent over for Joe but this thread isn't about who's the more liberty minded governor, now is it? Because that goes to DeSantis all day. In fact, in debate terminology this would be called a "strawman fallacy". This thread is about who did more to fight back against the Covidiots and lockdown Nazis, and that's Kristi all day.
Shit, I can't stand Kristi on almost every issue (weed, the fireworks, the trans sports thing) but she knocked it out of the park with her COVID response. To the point where I actually thanked God that I was in the one state in the country that was not forcing draconian measures. So, yes... in summation, she is far from perfect but it's absurd to let someone else do the work and take the ridicule and then swoop in and jump on the train when everyone else is doing it.
And this is coming from a guy who has said for the past year that DeSantis is the best governor in the country. But I call bullshit when I see it. And I don't care how much I love the guy, I'm not going to sit back, ignore history and pretend that DeSantis did more to fight back against COVID than Kristi.
In defense of Florida, there was a far broader perceived threat from COVID than in other states, and more people were considered essential workers than in any other state that had partial lockdowns. The thing that really pissed me off was the border crossing guards- if you traveled to a high COVID state, you were quarantined for 2 weeks. Thankfully we were traveling from Georgia. Florida never went whole hog as some other states which had just as many cases did, but there were some things that could have been done to take a more liberty minded approach. (BTW, I might well disagree with you on the 'trans sports thing - but science {especially the science of hormones, such as testosterone, I believe would back me up} -Give them their own competition, with the same prizes. I agree with Martina Navratilova on this: https://www.espn.com/tennis/story/_/id/30827339/martina-navratilova-seeks-provision-joe-biden-executive-order-transgender-participation-sports
