And here in CA we are expecting another MAJOR fireworks show. Newsom and all of his minions are putting out professionally made videos and signs saying they'll fine anyone they catch shooting off fireworks $5,000
They remind me of the Burgermeister Meisterburger. After all, they tried to cancel Christmas too. AS IF.
Newsome threatened the same thing last year, but there were tons of fireworks in LA (hispanics love fireworks) and I don't recall anything happening to anyone over it.
The fires CA has had in recent years were mysteriously NOT caused by fireworks. They were caused by arson. Everyone saw what all the CA fireworks looked like last year - they were EVERYWHERE and yet somehow ordinary citizens managed to NOT burn down Southern California.
Pretty lame excuse for cancellation.

You should have seen Vegas last year.
I've never in my life seen anything like it and expect it again this year.
Same! I’m in Lakewood, New Years was also like that.
It didn't stop the Cali Patriots las year, and it won't stop them this year, either.
One of my favorite videos from last year, I revisit it periodically.

It does make practical sense in many areas when you consider the extreme risk of forest fires.

I don't dispute that. My only point was that it's reasonable to restrict fireworks any where near poorly managed forestry areas.
Definitely. Most of them are in suburban areas though. Mountain towns don't really do fireworks. I posted this too, but here's an example of how regular people manage to NOT cause disaster every 4th of July, but the govt does: https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2021/07/01/it-felt-like-a-really-hard-earthquake-9-people-injured-in-botched-illegal-firework-detonation-by-police/
