That's not a good name for a rival to "twitter".
However, it IS a good name for a site if you are trying to trap hackers and track corporations that will use all their means to destroy the website.
How do you bring down Twitter and Feces-book and You-Tube? They all claim NOT to be monopolies and that they aren't destroying competitors. What if you developed a rival website designed to catch them red handed doing exactly that? NOW you can take it to court and prove that these companies illegally destroy their competitors... hence, Monopoly.
Miller was just on WarRoom and acknowledged Trump is not on yet but whether he joins at some point is TBD. Keep in mind the desire for the left (and Nationalfile too often acts in their interest) to destroy any platform that will compete against FB/Twitter/YT
I think Trump is kind of like venture capital. He isn't going to be part of the start up but will wait until the basic bugs have been worked out and the platform is stable.
But Miller is deeply connected to him and no way he embarked on this without Trump giving him the nod. He is holding the RealDonaldTrump handle off to the side if/when he does jump on, but I think that will be once the platform is stable. Trump won't want to be associated with a Parler type disaster.
I don't know, seems an expensive decoy. Miller stated their server build out is about what Twitter was in 2014. He said 300,000 sign ups the first day.
The official launch is 10am on 7/4. Apparently what they are doing now is beta testing and he acknowledged the volume is causing some issues.
That's when someone thought those letters would make a good website. The Wayback Machine scanned that address three times in 2007, and a directory on there was dated 2006. After that, the name was parked at GoDaddy for a while. That happens a lot, so I don't think it means a thing.
Think of the acronym "GETTR".

Absolutely
I'm hearing not very good things about content moderation on gettr. Not reddit level, not Twitter level, not that bad at this time.
Some of the potential issues I'm seeing reflect what could be a very clever gambit.
I'm going to start a gettr account and post all my boogaloos
Keep the liberals guessing. :>)
From 2018 in case you all decide to share.
There are two accounts on there claiming to be Trump, each calling the other fake.
Interesting.... wonder if he’ll announce it this weekend because he did say last week that he would be doing something to big tech this week.
I ran the domain on whois and GETTR.com was created in 2008.

There's also a 2 year old sub on reddit with the same name:
