Well, China a bunch of years ago for the NYE had amazing dragoons and 3D scenes running on the mid of the air, so technically hologram side could be done from the ground, yet, keeping all of those holograms synced around the world, that could rely on dark satellites, indeed
Big problem they had, was with the audio, how to widespread etc, now with 5G they have a far reaching solution
BUT, there is a big but at least from my side, i suspect, they could do it much easier with drones, i've been coding and assembling IOT devices for a while, and seeing where their public tech is at, i'ts scary, the have hordes of small drones that can fly and create pattern / complex designs / shows / and almost anything autonomously (IE they sync together, know collision paths, and anything in real time)
If you keep them far away hardly a difference could be seen between a hologram and those, plus, if they emit just 1w of sound, multiply that for thousands, well the noise would be quite loud, plus you can keep some of those drones hidden in cities playing the same audio so that 'it is coming from the ground and everywhere!', you see what i mean i think
Funny you mentioned drones and patterned flying, I’m studying for FAA Part 107 drone license now! As for drones patterned flying it IS amazing how far the tech has come. Smaller chipsets and ADS-B transponder (type) tech will drive the future of that stuff IMO. Take a quik-look at this data:
From what i understood actually there are 2 steps,
First the 'big holograms', are intended to be used for religious entities, saints, etc etc, that would be shown up in the skies, so for many to realize it will be hard, specially believers that will be likely shocked at the miracle
Then, the same night, the second step called 'the night of the suicides', where technically those entities should show around people, near devices that have the specific chipset installed (now almost any device has intel/bcom chipset inside, even phones so), and likely many will have a heartbreak or suicide (from there the name)
For BlueBeam to succeed holographically it would take a span of coverage. How to do that? IMO, StarLink. Just my opinion? In conclusion; DARK indeed.
